Metaphoric Gesture for Virtual Agents
Carolyn Saund is a PhD Student in Social Computational Intelligence at University of Glasgow. She received her undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Tufts University, and has worked as an AI Software Engineer at Social Robotics company Jibo, and Emotional AI company Cogito. Her project uses crowdsourced interpretation of complex metaphoric gestures in order to glean more understanding of how speakers naturally produce on-the-fly gestures that are often unrelated to the speech which accompanies them. Its goal is to create generative computational models of natural gestures to aid in intelligent social interaction for virtual agents.
