Virtual Production Remote Collaboration<\/h1>

Virtual Production (VP) is a rapidly expanding area of media production. In combination with game engines, visual effects, motion capture, modern LED screens, photogrammetry tools, and virtual reality technologies, VP facilitates a novel way of filmmaking in which a 3D virtual background is projected on LED walls inside a studio in such a way that the camera perceives proper parallax depth cues as it moves relative to the LED wall. VP offers sustainability on travel and additional expenses when the traditional production methods are not as feasible or economical. It allows for making creative decisions and revisions at an earlier stage via pre-visualization, which reduces VFX costs that account for 10-20% of the overall budget [1].
\nIn this newly emerging field of virtual production, we explore the opportunities and potential barriers for international collaboration, such as diversified cooperation in production and pre-production pipeline, software and hardware supply, shared digital assets libraries, and jointly built innovation and training institutions.
\nBased on the information and data we collected from industry experts, we gained a macro picture of the industry environment to form an impression of the factors then we used contextual content analysis to draw interpretations [2]. After a deeper understanding of the interview responses, we performed a thematic coding of interview segments using an inductive approach such that the themes and common categories were derived from the content of the data [3]. This methodology is particularly useful to extract generalizable inferences for more vivid and functional interpretations of shared viewpoints by different interviewees [4]. Barriers such as the talent shortage also present an opportunity to take advantage of the proliferating remote working culture and cloud services to build remote collaboration tools that can make virtual production even more effective and cost-saving alternative to the traditional filmmaking methods.<\/p>\n

He is currently researching on AI-powered animated avatars for a more human-like experience during Human-Computer Interaction.
